Vol. 30, No 6 WANDERING THROUGH THE WILDERNESS?.Answers to questions.

Vol. 30, No 6   June, 2006

       By Pastor George Mills

Much is being said about  “The Da Vinci Code” today. Recently I was asked, “Preacher, are you going to buy the Da Vinci code book? And do you plan to read it?”

My answer was NO. I will not read the book. I will not buy the book. I would not give that author the first dime for his book.  The person asking me about Da Vinci said that her pastor advised his congregation to buy the book and read it in order to know how to answer any question that someone may ask. Of course, you should not buy the book, and you should not read it. In fact, you should not read any literature that is not fundamentally sound in doctrine. It is my understanding, from the reports I have read, that the Da Vinci Code attacks the Person, the Purity, of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, that?s Hollywood. I expect that from Hollywood. I expect anything of a “religious” nature produced by Hollywood to be antichrist. As I say to my congregation every Sunday, “There is nothing wrong with your Bible, (KJV)” Read it, and you’ll know the truth. Read the real, and when the false comes along, you will already know the Truth. I expect Hollywood to attack the Person and Work of Christ in every way they can. The world hates Christ. My problem is not the vicious attacks from without, it is the subtle attacks from within the church world. Recently I heard a retiring Southern Baptist pastor recommend the N.I.V. to his congregation. The N.I.V. will do thousands of times more damage to the Person and Purity of Christ than will a passing Hollywood movie. Our concern should not be so much about what’s happening in the secular world, but what’s happening in the “sacred world.” Remember, Satan is not a giant knocking at the front door bidding entrance. He does not have to knock when all he has to do is just walk in unmolested through the back door. In the beginning, Satan used a serpent to corrupt the Word of God. In these last days, he uses the minds of educated men.

Another question comes to me?

“My Church is passing out a  Psychological Examination for us to fill out. They are trying to “evaluate ” us, and place us in various categories. What about Psychological Examinations in the Church?”

My answer; “Get out of it.? Don’t answer such a test. This is a growing thing in the “church world.”  There is no Scriptural (KJV) teaching that would even suggest such a test. Fallen man trying to evaluate fallen man makes no sense. The Bible (KJV) is the greatest Book on Psychology ever written. If you are saved, the Holy Spirit lives in you. The Holy Spirit is the Author of The Bible (KJV). As you read your Bible, (KJV) you will learn about yourself, about human nature. The Bible, (KJV) is that Mirror that reveals.   We have the mind of Christ, (1Cor 2:16). We have the Nature of Christ, (2Pet 1:4). Our Lord Jesus is the Great Physician. Just get to know Him better every day. Don?t let anyone bother your mind. “Thou, through Thy Commandment hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Thy Testimonies are my meditation. I have more understanding than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts.? (Psa 119:98-100).” “Be careful for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the Peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”(Phil 4:6-7). No, do not take such a test. Get away from it. Don’t let anyone bother your mind.

This past Sunday, May 14, was MOTHER’S DAY. We had a wonderful time here at Yukon Baptist Church. Our Auditorium is quite small, but it was good to see it filled in honor of our Mothers. I brought a message about Jochebed, the Mother of Moses, who, in my opinion is the outstanding Mother of the Old Testament. Her influence in the Life of Moses was seen long after she had died. In fact, there is no understanding Moses, and his forsaking the riches of Egypt apart from the influence of His Mother.

I Love Mothers. I love to see Godly Mothers. I appreciate every sacrifice that a Mother makes for her family. I appreciate so much my wife, who is my favorite Mother. I have seen her care and concern for our children down through the years. In fact, I have never seen another Mother who has put so much of herself, so much love into the upbringing of her children, and grand-children. I have watched her care for her children when they were sick. They had the best of care. Their clothes were always fresh and clean. She was always home with them. I appreciate her. I am glad that she is the Mother of my Children. I do not tell her often enough

Just how much I appreciate her sacrifice down through the years.

In the last months, there have been several reports about “missing children.” Some of these missing children were found murdered. As I reviewed each incident, I observed that  “Missing Children” was the wrong title. The problem in every case was, “MISSING MOTHER?” She was not where she should have been.

Thank God for the Mother of my children who has stayed at her post. Thank God for Every Mother across the land who cannot be labeled as “MISSING MOTHER” God bless every Mother who tries faithfully to bring up her children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” May God bless our families, and May He call from our children, and grand-children workers in His vineyard. GOD BLESS YOU, MOTHER!

I appreciate so much the opportunities God has given us that we might share the Gospel of Christ with so many out there ..

Our monthly publication, the WILDERNESS is mailed to homes, churches, missions, jails, prisons across the nation, and every edition is posted on our web-site. Our address is on the back page of this publication.

WILDERNESS Tracts have been offered for years, free to anyone who will prayerfully use them.

WILDERNESS Publication books, helps, etc, to help folks get started right.

We help get a Bible (KJV) to those who have no way of getting one.

Our Broadcast, THE CHURCH IN THE WILDWOOD, which we began about 40 years ago can be heard on our internet site anywhere in the world. A’INT GOD GOOD! Brethren, Pray for us.

Of course, we are Fundamental, Independent, Premillennial Missionary Baptist. Our ONLY Bible is the Old King James Bible, you know, the one that our parents, grand-parents used. Good enough for them, good enough for us.

Of course, all of our literature is free and postage paid. We have never sent out pleas for money. But without money, we could not do what we do. Some of you out there are so kind to help us. Believe me, we appreciate, more than you know, every dollar that is sent to us. Your offerings help further the Gospel of Christ around the world. Much time, prayer, and preparation is spent in every issue in order to make sure that we remain within our purpose as stated on the back page of every edition.

We are grateful that we can share this Ministry with many who are in prisons, jails, rescue missions, and other places where, for the most part, we cannot go in person. I trust that we will have opportunity to go to some of these places and have services with these folks. We want all of our readers to pray for these open doors, that we can reach many for the cause of Christ. We are aware that many of these have families, and we want to be faithful in praying for these also. I am grateful for every letter we receive from prisons and jails. I know that God is working in the hearts of many

AND THE WORLD IS A WILDERNESS..It is no friend to the Christian. The only friend the world ever had is Christ, and the world crucified Him. And the world seeks to crucify the Christian. Again, in this world you have no friend. In Christ you have an Unfailing Friend.

“The Words of the Lord are Pure Words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou wilt keep them O Lord ” ( Psa 12:6).

         By Pastor George Mills

“But God forbid that I should Glory, save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”(Gal 6:14).

There is but one central message in the Bible. That one message is the message of Redemption. Take away that message and the Bible makes no sense. The message of Redemption had it?s beginning in eternity past, and was revealed to man and Satan in the Garden of Eden, (Gen 3:15). From that point in history, until the time of the Cross of Calvary, everything that God did pointed to that Glorious place called Calvary.

First, let me say that if you do not know   Christ as your Saviour, The message of the Cross is a message of Hope. It does not matter what your life has been in the past. There is hope for the future in Christ. The Bible (KJV) says, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” (Jn 1:12) You receive Christ by Faith alone. The Bible says, “Ask, and ye shall receive.” Now, let’s not add anything to that. Anything added becomes “another Gospel” (Gal 1:6-9).

To the Christian, the Cross is a place of assurance, of comfort, of safety. This is indeed a strange place to Glory. The Cross is a place of execution. A place where guilty criminals were put to death. And yet the Apostle Paul says, “There, at that place, I will Glory.” Just why would Paul glory in that place of shame? You know, it’s just man’s nature to glory in something. Meet a stranger, and in just a few minutes, he will tell you what he glories in .. Just recently I met a stranger and almost immediately he began to tell me about how much he loved the game of golf. Now, I have never been on a golf course, so I didn’t know much about what he was saying about golf ..but he sure did. That’s just a man?s nature.   The word “Glory” appears many times in the Bible.

(A) Sometimes GLORY is used when the Bible speaks about CREATION. “The heavens declare the GLORY of God.” (Psa 19)

(B) Sometimes the word “GLORY” is used when the Bible speaks about RESURRECTION. (1Cor. 15:41-43. We will be changed from one glory to another, in a moment.

(C) In our text today, the word “GLORY” speaks about the work of REDEMPTION.

Paul simply says that he will spend his life boasting about the Cross of Christ and His work of Redemption. When Paul speaks of the CROSS OF CHRIST, he is not speaking about a wooden cross. The CROSS Paul was referring to is the completed Work of Redemption. That is, The Death, the Burial, and the Resurrection of Christ. When Paul understood what God had done in Redemption, His life was completely changed. Before this Paul could have, and did glory in several things?

1. HIS LIFE. “I lived a Pharisee.” (Acts 26:5) The most respected sect of his day. Paul could identify with the man in Lk. 18:10-14. He lived in the strict manner of the Pharisee. But Paul refused to glory in his life.

2.HIS LEARNING. Acts 22:3 Paul states that he was educated at the feet of Gamaliel, the great Educator of Paul’s day. Paul was no fool. He was educated. Today, man would call him “Doctor Paul.”

3. HIS LINEAGE. See Phil 3:1-8. Paul could trace his lineage. In accordance to the Law, Paul was taken to the Temple and circumcised on the eighth day of his birth. His birth was recorded in the ledger in the Temple. He could trace his family history back to Benjamin. This was very important to every Jewish boy.

4. HIS LETTERS.   Paul wrote at least 13, probably 14 New Testament Letters, or Epistles to the Churches. God called this great man aside and revealed to him the Gospel of Grace, the great mysteries of the Church age, and so many wonderful truths. Paul could have gloried in these things, but he knew that there is but one place he could glory; THE CROSS OF CHRIST.

Let us look at the CROSS, YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW.

1. YESTERDAY., at the Cross. For me, my yesterday was 46 years ago. In August, 1960, I bowed by heart as an unworthy sinner and asked Jesus to save me, and He did! That was a Glorious day. My life was changed that day. Since that day, I have never been the same. At my YESTERDAY, I freely received…..

(A) REMISSION. Jesus said, “My Blood is shed for REMISSION of sins.” (Mt 26:28) According to Romans 3:10-23 there was a long list of indictments against me, (and you). But Jesus, at the Cross, paid the price for that list. “REMISSION” means, “to send away,”   “to release,”  “to pardon.” That’ s what happened for me, at the Cross, YESTERDAY. My sins are gone. Yours too, if you know Christ.

(B) REDEMPTION. The word “REDEMPTION” means , “to buy back that which was lost.” We were lost in sin, and at the Cross, Jesus bought us back with His own Blood. “Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own Blood.” (Rev 1:5) “For Thou wast slain and hast REDEEMED us to God BY THY BLOOD out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” (Rev 5:9). The Apostle Peter says, that “Ye were not REDEEMED with corruptible things as silver and gold But with the Precious Blood of Christ.” (1Pet 1:18-19).

(C) RECONCILIATION. The word “RECONCILE” means, “a restoration between parties.”  In the Garden of Eden, sin entered the picture. Man sinned against God, and that sin separated man from God. Man, since that time, has been at enmity with God. We were enemies according to Gen 3:15, and Romans 5:10; “For if when we were enemies, we were RECONCILED to God by the death of His Son.”  Jesus, in His finished work of Redemption forever settled that enmity, that war.

(D) REST, sweet REST. Colossians 1:20, “And having made PEACE through the Blood of His Cross ” Isaiah 57:20 says, “But the wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot REST, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” But wonderful REST and PEACE is free, at the Cross, This can be yours today. Realize your condition, that you are a sinner, that Jesus died and arose from the dead for your sin, that you must personally receive Him alone as your Saviour. You trust His Work of Redemption alone. You receive Him by asking Him into your heart. He will hear the cry of the repentant heart. Just tell Him now that you receive Him. The Bible says, “Ask, and ye shall receive.”

2. TODAY. Today, and every day, the Cross is the believer’s refuge.

(A) THE CROSS DELIVERS ME FROM A LIFE OF SIN. Yes, we have been delivered from the PENALTY of sin. The Cross also delivers us from the POWER of sin. “The world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” (Gal 6:14). As we look daily to the finished work of the Cross of Calvary, as we see what Jesus did for us there, we clearly see that His Cross stands between the believer and the power of sin. That is our victory. No longer does sin have us in it’s grip. The Power of the Cross has broken sin’s power. Keep your faith, your eyes, your hope, your all in the finished work of the Cross.

(B) THE CROSS DEFENDS ME FROM MY ADVERSARIES. Please read Romans 8:33-39. Our enemy is forever there to accuse us, to charge us, to bring things against us. “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather that He is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Ro 8:34)

What a powerful verse. All of the power that we need is in that one verse. There, between you and your adversary, there stands the Cross.

(C) THE CROSS DIRECTS US HOME. Just keep your eyes on the Cross and you?ll find light all the way home. For several years I had the privilege of pastoring a Church in St. Augustine Florida. There, the catholic church has erected a giant, stainless steel cross, 20 stories high. This cross is supposed to be erected on the sight where Ponce De Leon landed on this shore. At night, this cross is illuminated with bright lights. It is located at the inlet to the St. Augustine harbor just a short distance from the Atlantic Ocean. There is a large fishing fleet in St. Augustine. Fishermen say that this cross can be seen at night far out there in the Atlantic. Fishermen say that they can find their way to the harbor at night by pointing their boat in the direction of this cross. THE CROSS DIRECTS THEM HOME. And the Cross of Calvary directs us home. Just keep your eyes fixed right there, where He paid the price for your sin. You?ll never get off course.

3. TOMORROW. In the eternal tomorrow, the Cross will remain the central theme.

(A) The first thing in Heaven is the scene in Rev 5:8-12, “And they sung a new song saying, Thou art worthy to take the Book, and to open the seals thereof, for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy Blood ..” Now, contrast that scene with Mt 7:22, “Lord, look at what we did. We prophesied in Thy Name, and in Thy Name cast out devils, and in Thy Name done many wonderful works. Lord, look at what WE did.”

But the redeemed in Heaven praise Him for what HE did.

(B) THE CONTINUING THEME THROUGH THE ENDLESS AGES WILL BE THE CROSS. Rev. 22:1 speaks of the Lamb. The Lamb speaks of the Cross. Through the endless ages, the Cross will become sweeter and sweeter. We will forever be identified with the Cross. I am proud to be identified with the Cross. I am proud to bear any reproach of the Cross, (Heb 13:10-14).

I have a blood condition called Hemophilia. My Doctors advised me to wear a Medic Alert bracelet on my arm, just in case .. My little grand-son loves garage sales. While shopping at a garage sale in the neighborhood, he saw a small bracelet, similar to one that I have to wear?only this bracelet had a small cross dangling from it. He bought the cross and brought it to me. He identified me both with the bracelet, and WITH THE CROSS. When he saw the cross, he thought of me. I was honored that this little fellow identified me with the cross. I LIKE THAT!

Paul could not boast in his LIFE, for it was filled with wrong. Paul could not boast in his LEARNING, because it had not included Christ. Paul cold not boast in his LINEAGE because it was filled with sin. Paul could not boast in his LETTERS because God gave him a thorn in his flesh to remind him that he could boast in the Cross of Christ alone.

I trust that the Cross of Christ will be your place of Glory.

” But God forbid that I should Glory save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (Gal. 6:14)

The Cross of Christ is not a place,

   For man’s wisdom to compare.

The Cross, where God meets Adam’s race,

   And I will Glory there.

The Cross of Christ is not a place,

   For man’s honor to declare.

The Cross, where God reveals His Grace,

   And I will Glory there.

The Cross of Christ is not a place,

   To display beauty, fair.

The Cross, where Christ died in disgrace,

   And I will Glory there.

Upon the Cross, God’s Sacrifice,

Man’s sin, the Lamb did bear.

Sin now forgiven, He paid the price,

“He that being often reproved, hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.”

1, HE, BEING OFTEN REPROVED. The word “REPROVED” means, “to teach.”  “to instruct” God has been after you all of your life, teaching, instructing, in various ways trying to bring you to Christ. Just how does God REPROVE you?

A. “And when He (The Holy Spirit) is come, He will REPROVE the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of Judgment.” (Jn 16:8) The Holy Spirit has been after you all of your life. He has worked many, many ways. Your life has been spared until this day.

B. Another way of REPROOF.. “Preach the Word, be instant in season, out of season REPROVE, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2Tim 4:2) God REPROVES through the preaching of the Word of God. This is why you shy away from the preacher, or some soul winner. This is why you feel uncomfortable in Church, or even in reading this. God is REPROVING, teaching you with His Word.

2. “HARDENETH HIS NECK.” He stiffens his neck, he will not bow. He says NO to God. “Perhaps some other time, not today..”  Jer 17:33; “But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff that they might not receive instruction.”  God had been dealing with Israel in the same way He has been dealing with your life. They stiffened their neck. They said NO.

3. “SHALL SUDDENLY BE DESTROYED.”   Prov 1:23, “Turn you at my REPROOF. I will pour out my Spirit and make known my WORDS to you. Because I have called, and ye refused. I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded. But ye have set at naught all my counsel, and would none of My REPROOF. I will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when your fear cometh.” God’ s Spirit will not always strive with man. TODAY, if you will hear His voice, harden not your heart.

There is no other remedy, no other way of Salvation. Today, while you have opportunity, Today, Receive Christ as your Personal Saviour. How do you receive Him? Tell Him that you receive Him. “Ask and ye shall receive.”  If you are looking for some other way, there is no other way. If you are waiting for another day, there may not be another day. Without Christ, there is no hope.

In Christ, you can begin TODAY to live FOREVER!

THINK ABOUT IT ..God’s crowning work is not creation, it is the Cross, for the Cross was in God’s plan before   Creation. See 1Peter 1:18-20

I wish to take just a line to say again THANK YOU for your kindness, prayers, and gifts for this Ministry.
