AMERICA’S GREAT NEED
Pastor George Mills
“A wise man built his house upon a Rock.”
As we look about us today we have to come to the conclusion that our great land that we love is in a mess. Something is terribly wrong. What happened? Where did we go wrong? Broken homes, broken lives, crime, violence, unsafe neighborhoods, alcoholism, drug addictions. The list goes on and on. Facts and figures to back up these few statements are astounding. How can get we get on the right track? What are our needs? Of course, our needs are Spiritual. America needs the Bible (KJB). America needs God, the God of the Bible, the God of our fathers.
The Secular world says that our needs are:
The Sacred world says that our needs are:
And some say we need a new message.
The greatest asset that any community needs is a strong, Bible preaching pulpit. America’s greatest need of the hour is the building up of the Home and Family structure as God has ordained. I know that the things I will say in this message do not agree with the thinking of today. The various liberation movements, the NOW gang, and society itself do not agree with these things, but what I have to say is Bible!
This is America’s great need…
1. THE DIVINE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HOME.
Did you know that the home and marriage is the oldest institution on earth? Read Genesis 2:18-25. “Therefore shall a man leave his Father and his Mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.” (Gen 2:24). Marriage and the home were established in the Garden of Eden. This Divine institution is being undermined by Satan and his imps, especially in these last days. Satan knows that if he can destroy the sanctity of homes, he can destroy that society. Satan is trying to destroy YOUR HOME! Today, people just live together without marriage, or some will marry with the intent that if doesn’t seem to be working, I’ll just get a divorce. This generation has somehow convinced itself that the Laws of God can be broken, or ignored and somehow God will just overlook them. The Bible says, “Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers, GOD WILL JUDGE.” (Heb. 13:4). I once read the account of a man who was injured in a boating accident resulting in his arms and
legs being paralyzed. As a patient in a nursing home, he met and fell in love with his nurse. They were married. Their marriage launched their first problems with the welfare department.
First, the man was told that he was no longer eligible for the $270 disability payment from them. Next he was informed that his $192 federal supplemental security income would be reduced to $101. This meant the couple’s total income would be $371 per month. Now it takes $500 a month for rent and special diet for the man, plus payment of a college loan, laundry and car payments. ((These prices are dated about 40 years ago). Do you know what the advice the welfare department gave this couple as a logical and acceptable solution for their problem?…
GET A DIVORCE!
Not separate, just get a divorce and continue living together. Imagine, the state advocating Divorce? The state would continue giving the couple the full money if they lived together as unmarried, but not if legally husband and wife.
That seems to be a commentary on the philosophy of America today. This is just another one of Satan’s attempts to destroy the sanctity of the Home and marriage vows.
2. THE DIVINE ORDER OF THE HOME.
God has Divine order for all of His creation. The animal kingdom has Divine order. The seasons have Divine order. The heavens have Divine order. All move and have their part in this universe. The moon cannot say that just because I am not the sun, I am not important, nor can the moon claim equality with the sun. Both the sun and the moon have their place and are important to man’s survival. They are different, but necessary. In that same sense, God has Divine order for the home. When the home is in order, it is a small picture of Heaven.. When the home is out of order, it is a picture of…well, just read the paper, look about you. Now let’s see what the Bible says about the Divine order of the home.
“But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. (1Cor. 11:3) (See also Gen. 3:16, and Eph 5:22-33).
The Divine order then is;
When that is working in order, then everything is working! I know that we are living in the day and times of various liberation movements and that everyone is calling for equality in every area, but the Bible was here and working well long before these various movements came along, and the Bible will work today.
CHRIST. Christ first. He must be acknowledged as Lord and Saviour. With Jesus Christ, every home is equipped with that solid foundation that will withstand the attacks against the home. I know that Satan has tried so hard to destroy my home for a long time. Thank God, my Home and Marriage has lasted over 60 years! I love the little “saying” that hung on our wall when our children were growing up….
Christ is the Head of this Home.
He is the unseen Guest at every meal,
He is the silent listener of every conversation.
Every home MUST be built upon Christ and his Word.
MAN. The Bible clearly teaches that it is man’s responsibility before God to LOVE his family, to provide for and to protect, and lead his family in moral and Spiritual purity. It is man’s duty to train by example. He is to LOVE his wife, to let her know that he loves her, and if necessary, to die for her. If every husband would just assume his rightful and responsible position, I believe that the wife would follow. Today, America needs men, Godly men to lead their homes, to train, to support their family in the things of God. One of our great problems today is the failure of men in assuming their rightful place in the home. No wonder so many wives are crying out for liberation. Let me add right here that no husband should ever mistreat, harm, or hurt his wife. He is to respect her. And men who father children and leave them, abuse them, harm them, I have only contempt for such!
“Husbands, love your wives.”
WOMAN. “Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, and He is the Saviour of the body.” (Eph 5:22-23). Now, I am speaking about Divine order in the home. God does not want the wife to feel like she is inferior or less important. Wives, this is your responsibility before God. If the wife refuses to do as God has ordained, the home will not work as it should. Wives, just take God at His Word, and He will bless you.
CHILDREN. The Bible tells us where we came from, where we are going, and how to live while we are here. Every detail of life, even to the raising of our children. We are to train, to discipline, to nurture, to love our children. The best way to get rid of drunks is to stop raising them. It all begins at home. From the simple courtesies of life, to parental obedience, to respect for elders, teachers, principles, obey stop signs, traffic lights, and speed zones. It all begins at home. In these last days, there has been an outcry against policemen. “Policemen are bad” they say. “They look for someone to shoot at.” They say. “We must retrain our police officers.” They say. May I say that retraining police officers is NOT the starting place. It all begins at HOME! Let us not put the blame on Policemen when the problem comes from the Home. We have left the home training up to the school and to society and things are not turning out like we have been told that they would. “Children, obey your parents in the LORD, for this is right. Honor thy father and mother which is the first commandment with promise,” (Eph. 6:1-2).
Our kids must be told that they are very special and loved very much.
3. THE DANGERS TO WHICH EACH HOME IS EXPOSED.
There are many dangers, but the greatest danger is Spiritual. We find it more difficult to reach young people because Christianity is not being practiced in the home today, Our children know when we do not mean business with God.
A). THE INFLUENCE OF TELEVISION.
I am not one who is against everything. I believe that God gave radio, the press, television for proper use and for world evangelism. We have not taken advantage of these opportunities, but the devil sure has. Note some of the bad influences of television in our homes…
“The average child spends 9000 hours of TV, 54 hours per week by the time he starts to school. By age 18 he has logged 25,000 hours of television. A Stanford University survey of prime time five hours on Monday evening showed…
One stabbing in the back
5 falling or being pushed off cliffs.
2 attempted murders by auto.
12 major gunfights.
37 hand to hand fights.
42 gun incidents.
Only two out of ten serious acts of mayhem showed lawful arrest. Add to that the sex scenes, bedroom scenes,, the “HELLS,” the “DAMNS,”
the mockery of the Bible, family life, the BEER commercials that tell our kids, “You’re not a man until you drink our brand.” Parents, others are reaching our children with their own brand of education.
B). THE INFLUENCE OF ELECTRONIC GAMES.
There are so many today that I cannot begin to name them. Satan’s target is the MIND, the MIND! Believe me, Satan is having his heyday of deception. Every kid today has at least one of these pocket games, phones, and video equipment. Kids watch, and learn, they learn! They watch violent acts, and begin to believe that “this is real.” There is a real danger here. Computers, games, music are all good when put to proper use, but this has gotten to be out of hand. Kids hear, and learn, and do violent things, and can never understand why. MINDS are being poisoned here. These things MUST be controlled by the parents.
C). THE INFLUENCE OF THE PUBLIC
The school system is supposed to be in agreement with the home. I am appalled at the problems our kids face in the public school system. Things that kids are taught at home, the school system tears down. The home and the school should compliment one another, but this is not so, today. We could spend much time on this point. I just want every parent to be aware that our kids face things, and teachings that we never had to face when we were their age. I thank God for every Christian School in America that seeks to STAY ON THE OLD PATHS.
D). THE INFLUENCE OF MUSIC.
No home is big enough for rock music. The beat hypnotizes the MIND while Satan fills the heart with his words. Did you ever take time to listen to the words? Against home, against God, against country, against law enforcement. No home is large enough for rock music. And now, churches have adopted what is called “christian rock.” NOT SO! There is nothing Christian about it, and certainly it is not music. I am appalled that the churches and church groups that have adopted this kind of “music.” Concerts that fill auditoriums with young people that are nothing less than hard rock concerts. Watch out for this “Jammin’ for Jesus” stuff.
E). THE INFLUENCE OF A GOD-LESS SOCIETY AT THE END TIME.
Please take time to read 2Timothy 3:1-5. Read these verses carefully. Do they describe more fully than any other time in history? “Lovers of self, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.” Now, listen to me, we do not have to wait until tomorrow to get to that place in history as Paul described in these verses. WE ARE THERE, NOW! The devil is using this godless society, from government sources, courts, schools, and yes, even religion to tear down and destroy the dignity and sanctity of the American home.
Satan is trying to destroy YOUR HOME!
4. THE CORRECTION NEEDED…
Let each of us get our home in Bible order. Whatever it takes. We all know our own circumstances. Let us establish the clear FATHER-MOTHER relationship in our home. “This “unisex family is not working, never has, never will. When unisex parents not only dress and look alike, and try to have the same role in marriage, their children get the lowest common denominator instead of differences. A child needs to be exposed to clear cut male and female roles in order for them to develop their identity. These differences contribute to the richness of the family life and enrichment of the child. A child has to know who he/she is. He is either a boy or girl. They learn from their parents. If both parents tend to be the same, the child learns neither role, If both parents tend to be the same, the child could have problems and unhappiness in later years..”
Let us rid our homes of the things that tend to destroy homes. Rock music has to go. Literature that is not wholesome has to go. Dad, dress like a man. Mom, dress like a lady Begin each day with prayer and Bible reading with children. Be an active part of a Bible believing local Church. Spend much time together as a family. Dedicate your home to God.
May God bless your home and my home! Let’s work at making a home that builds sweet memories.
Our Father, Bless our Homes. Satan is out to destroy. Help each of us to honor Christ as Head of our Hearts, and our Homes. Bless our children. Protect them. May each one grow to be servants for our Lord, and representatives of a HAPPY HOME!
Alcohol…the teen age tragedy.
Today, America has over 450,000 alcoholics who are between the ages of 10 and 19. 1.3 million between 12 and 17 have serious drinking problems. Three out of four high school students drink. That’s twice as many as just four years ago. Arrests of boys 18 and younger for intoxication jumped 250% in the same period.
NO HOME IS BIG ENOUGH FOR ALCOHOL!!
FROM MY HEART
By Mildred Mills
HE CARES FOR YOU
Some of the saddest words in the Bible are found in Psalm 142:4, “No man cared for my soul.” This scripture came alive to me one day as I read the local newspaper. A man, found dead, all alone in a filthy, skid row hotel. He was known to drink and probably died drunk. He had no family, never been married and his Mother and Dad, five sisters and one brother had died years before. But the thing that caught my attention was the name, Mills. That happens to be my husband’s name. I read the article to my husband and he immediately knew who this person was. This person was an uncle that had left home many years ago and never returned. He left Mama, Dad, sisters and brother and chose a life of sin and died alone without family or friends. My husband never met him but was told of his uncle Tommy and his way of life. It was a sad story to hear of his addiction to alcohol and the lonely path that it led him down. He had left his family many years ago and never returned. He was a lonely man with no one to care for him. He was found dead at the end of that path Satan had taken him down. I kept thinking, if only we had known him. We could have loved him and could have told him that Jesus loved him. We could have cleaned him up and bandaged his wounds and just let him know that we cared for him, and we cared for his soul. But it was too late. We never met him and all I could think of was “No man cared for my soul.” That scripture came alive in my heart that day. I would like to say to you the very words I would have said to uncle Tommy. God cares for your soul. He gave His Son to suffer and die for your sin. That’s how much He cares for you. Jesus died to pay for your sin. Why don’t you accept His love and ask Him to come into your heart and save your soul this very day. He cares for you. He cares for your soul. “But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Ro.5:8). “For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Ro. 10:13).
TEEN TALKS THAT MATTER
By Ashley Stevens
FLIPPING THE PAGE
As time goes on and you get older your life turns a page, so to speak. I have recently experienced that first hand. Just a few weeks ago I turned twenty years old and I flipped the page of my teenage years. More importantly, the love of my life has asked me to marry him. In May of this year I will join the man that God had planned for me and I will become his wife. He is the biggest earthly blessing the lord has ever given to me and I am grateful. God doesn’t expect us to stay on one page in our book of life. He wants us to continue to flip those pages. He wants us to enjoy this life and live it for Him. Take on the new journeys in your life excited and ready to conquer it. Each page in your book has been perfectly laid out by God. Your book will not be perfect. Your book will show challenges. Make sure that your book shines. Make sure that each chapter shows your love for Jesus and you living for Him. I have enjoyed writing these articles for this Publication and I thank Pastor Mills for allowing me to do this. It makes me very sad that this will be my last article. I will be moving and starting that new chapter that God has placed in my life. Throughout these years I have learned so much with the help of my church family. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity and I have made a lifetime of memories. I am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for my future. It is such a crazy thought to know that God has my whole life already planned out. He knows what step I am going to take next, the next journey in my life. He already knows everything. I shall rest assured that my future is in the hands of an awesome God. I will never doubt that His plan for me is perfect. So, don’t be afraid to turn the page. It’s all in God’s plan.
Thank you for an amazing ride. May God Bless you each and every day!……. Ashley Stevens
Thanks Ashley for your Work in this Publication. Ya’ done good!! We wish for you God’s Speed as you “Turn Your Page!” Pastor Mills
WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?
(By Pastor Mills)
This question comes from the text in Acts 16:16-34. The Philippian jailer asked the question that every one, in one way or another asks’, “What must I do to be saved?” Today, let us answer this question for several reasons…
To give answer for those who have never settled this question.
For everyone who is saved to have blessed assurance of Salvation.
That we might be more equipped to win others to Christ.
Now, let us examine this passage in Acts…
1.) THE CHARACTERS..There are four groups of people in this text, people from all walks of life, from different backgrounds. On the surface it may seem that they had nothing in common, but they all had a common need.
A). THE GIRL, v16-18. She was possessed by a demon.
She was a fortune teller, a soothsayer. She made her masters a living by practicing an old trade. This is commonly practiced today. Common or not, it is forbidden in God’s Law, (Dt. 18:10-12). She talked about ‘god’ to the people. But the Apostle Paul wanted all to know that the ‘god’ that she spoke about was NOT the God that Paul knew, so he cast the demon out of her. On the surface she seemed harmless as she talked about ‘god,’ but she was a sinner, in need of Salvation.
B). HER MASTERS, v19-22. Parasites, they were. Living off the infirmities of someone else. Taking advantage of a situation for monetary gain. I do not believe that we would have to do much searching to find out that they too, were sinners. “He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches….shall surely come to want.” (Pr. 22:16).
C). THE JAILER, (v23-25) A wicked, cruel man. He cast Paul and Silas into the inner prison and firmly fastened their feet in stocks. He went to every means to see that these men, though badly beaten, would not escape. He thought more of his position then he did of these two common prisoners. But like the others in this text, he too, was a sinner.
D). THE APOSTLE PAUL. You can read about Paul’s life in Philippians 3. He was not like the others in this text. Paul was religious, educated, a pharisee. He could trace his lineage back through the line of Benjamin. He could say as far as the Law was concerned, “I was blameless.” Yes, Paul was quite different than these others, but like the rest, he too, was a sinner. Paul needed to be saved from the penalty and power of sin. He met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, and there he received the Lord Jesus as his own personal Saviour, (Acts 9:1-22).
Yes, this group, quite different, different backgrounds, different cultures, different morals, different education, different in every way, except one; THE ALL WERE SINNERS! They ALL needed to be saved. The Bible says, “for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Ro. 3:23)).
2). THE CAUSE. “At midnight Paul and Silas sang praises to God, and THE PRISONERS HEARD THEM.” The cause was greater than their circumstances, They were in a jail full of unsaved prisoners. These were not normal prisoners. These two did not curse and swear, or threaten the jailer. I am sure that the jailer was touched by the lives of these two men, Paul and Silas. The cause was greater than the circumstances. They were surrounded by men who needed to hear the Gospel of Christ. Nothing has changed today, Men are still lost without Christ and desperately need to hear the story of Jesus and His Saving Grace.
3). THE CRISIS, (v26-27). At midnight Paul and Silas prayed and their prayer touched the heart of God. Suddenly there was an earthquake. Suddenly, there was a great crisis )in the life of the jailer. One moment he has everything, the next moment, all was gone. Suicide seemed to be the only answer. You know, God works in the upsets of life. Sometimes, this is His only way of getting our attention. God answered the prayers of these soul winners.
4). THE CRY. (v30), “What must I do to be saved?” Have you ever asked that question? Sure you have, many times. This question has been on the heart of every man since man sinned, in the Garden of Eden. In one way or another, time after time, you have wondered“What must I do to be saved?” Man’s greatest question. God’s only answer….
5). THE CURE. (v31). Before we talk about the CURE, let’s first look on the negative side. Let’s see what Paul did NOT say…
Paul did not say, “Go and get baptized.” Paul knew that Baptism does not save anybody, Baptism never saved a soul. Baptism is a work that man can do, and no work of man can save anybody.
Paul did not say, “Go join a church. Like baptism, joining a church never saved a soul.
Paul did not say, “Turn over a new leaf, and start doing better and start doing some good works. Show everyone how good you can be.” Paul knew that “all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” (Isa. 64:6).
Paul mentioned none of these things, nor did he mention any of the many ways that man has invented as a cure for the condition of man. Paul said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”
To believe is to realize that you are a sinner before God.. (Ro 3:23).
To believe is to Receive Christ. Almost everyone believes about Christ, even the devils believe.(Ja. 2:19)
To receive Christ is to believe everything the Bible says about Him,; that He died on the cross for our sin, that He was buried, and that He arose on the third day. (1Cor. 15:1-6).
To receive Christ is to ASK Him to save you. “But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” (Jn 1:12)
Christ will never come into your life unbidden by you. Receive Him today and you will have in you the only answer to life’s greatest question. “What must I do to be saved?” May God help you to do that right now. Begin TODAY to live FOREVER!
HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD
In 2003 here in Florida, Paul Hill was executed for killing an abortion Doctor, and a security person. While we abhor the awful crime of shedding innocent blood through the practice of abortion, Christians do not take the path of killing others to stop the practice of abortion. What Mr. Hill did is no less than what terrorists do. Mr. Hill received his just reward. We will continue to oppose the awful crime of abortion in our land. We will continue to try to win people to Christ. True conversion to Christ is the only thing that will stop this awful crime.
“These six things doth the LORD hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto Him. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imagination, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among the brethren.”
I once read about a group of college students as they toured the slums of a city. One of the students seeing a little girl playing in the dirt asked her guide; “Why doesn’t her mother clean her up?” “Madam,” he replied; “That girl’s mother probably loves her, but doesn’t hate the dirt. You hate the dirt, but you don’t love her enough to go down to her and clean her up. Until hate for the dirt and love for the child are in the same person, that little child is likely to remain as she is.” Until hate for the sin, and love for the sinner gets into the same person, nothing will be done about the plight of the lost.
